Winter at Point Reyes is nothing short of spectacular.

Here at the Motel Inverness, we marvel from our deck at the emerald green color of the hills across the bay.

Higher winter tides often make the entire marsh area a reflecting pool, creating a seamless flow of color.

Early mornings bring perfect sunrises - and herald the beginning of another perfect day.

By December, a steady flow of whales begin appearing at the lighthouse.

Elephant seals pile on top of each other at Chimney Rock, Coho salmon spawn in Lagunitas Creek, and Tule Elk settle into harems and bachelor herds now that the rutting season has ended.

Kingfishers and Great Egrets compete for dinner in the marsh - and all seem to find their fill each day.

It's a wildlife spectacle, from one end of the park to the other.

We know it's hard to see all that winter has to offer at Point Reyes in just one day - so we've decided to make it easy to stay awhile and soak it all in with our most popular Winter Special:

Pay for 2 nights and your 3rd night is FREE!

The spectacle begins December 1st and continues all winter long - expiring on March 15, 2012. So get on out here. Nature is calling. (Holiday periods not included. Special may not be combined with any other discount.)
